முருங்கையின் பயன்கள் Moringa oleifera

Moringa oleifera is a tree whose name is derived from the Tamil word Murungai, otherwise popularly known as drumstick tree in India. The moringa tree is fast growing, drought resistant, native to the southern foothills of the Himalayas in northwestern India. Today moringa is widely cultivated throughout Africa, Central and South America and many parts of Asia. But the most amazing fact of this plant is its nutrient content: from the roots to the sap, every part of the plant yields some health benefits. It has 46 types of antioxidants, 36 kinds of anti-inflammatories and a wealth of other beneficial compounds.

Morigna oleifera has been used by the traditional Indian medical system of Ayurveda as early as 150 BC to treat a wide variety of health problems such as arthritis, heart disease, bacterial, fungal and viral infections. It is difficult to avoid superlatives when describing Moringa’s value as a food source. It is rich in protein, calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron vitamin A and vitamin C. The leaves of this plant have high levels of a compound called beta-sitosterol known to lower cholesterol. Further, researchers have found that leaves have 2009mg of calcium per 100gm which is more calcium that 6 cups of milk. It also has 28mg of iron per 100gm- that is more that 7 oz of chicken liver. The flowers contain antioxidant substances called flavonids, such as quercetin, kaempferol, rhametin, isoquercitrin, and kaempferitrin, The plant’s root is rich in moringinem alkaloids that appear to have cardiac stimulant and hypertensive effects. It also has antibacterial and antifungal properties. The seeds are anti-hypertensive and help protect the liver. Moringa gum is used as an abortifacient, to treat headaches, fever, dysentery, asthma and intestinal cancer.

Benefits of Dandelion and Dandelion Root

11_health_benefits_of_dandelion_and_dandelion_root_pic

Dandelion is most often thought of as a pesky weed that takes over in lawns, gardens, meadows, and even pops up in cracked sidewalks and pavement. It is invasive and pervasive. Lucky for us, it is also an excellent food and herbal medicine that anyone can find, grow, and put to use.
Dandelion is a very rich source of beta-carotene which we convert into vitamin A. This flowering plant is also rich in vitamin C, fiber, potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and phosphorus. It is a good place to get B complex vitamins, trace minerals, organic sodium, and even vitamin D. Dandelion contains protein too, more than spinach. It has been eaten for thousands of years and used to treat anemia, scurvy, skin problems, blood disorders, and depression.
Seeds grow readily in your garden, planter boxes, or pots. If you collect them wild, try to choose ones you know have not been subjected to pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals. The ones in your lawn are not the best. Pick them instead from a mountain meadow or abandoned lot. Seeds can be bought or you can gather them from the familiar puff balls you see each summer. Dandelion leaves can also be found fresh in some health food markets or as a freeze-dried herb. Dandelion tea, capsules, and tinctures are also available.

Digestive Aid – Dandelion acts as a mild laxative that promotes digestion, stimulates appetite, and balances the natural and beneficial bacteria in the intestines.

Kidney – This weed-like superfood is a diuretic that helps the kidneys clear out waste, salt, and excess water. This inhibits microbial growth in the urinary system too.

Liver – Dandelion has been shown to improve liver function by removing toxins and reestablishing hydration and electrolyte balance.

Antioxidants – Every part of the dandelion plant is rich in antioxidants that prevent free-radical damage to cells and DNA, slowing down the aging process in our cells.

health_benefits_of_flowers_imageCancer – Dandelion acts against cancer to slow its growth and prevent its spread. The leaves are especially rich in the antioxidants and phytonutrients that combat cancer.
Diabetes – Recent animal studies show promise that dandelion helps regulate blood sugar and insulin levels.
High Blood Pressure – As a diuretic dandelion increases urination which then lowers blood pressure. The fiber and potassium in dandelion also regulate blood pressure.
Cholesterol – Animal studies have shown that dandelion lowers and control cholesterol levels.
Gallbladder – Dandelion increases bile production and reduces inflammation to help with gallbladder problems and blockages.
Inflammation – Dandelion contains essential fatty acids and phytonutrients that reduce inflammation throughout the body. This can relieve pain and swelling.
Immune System – Animal studies also show that dandelion boosts immune function and fights off microbes and fungi.
Dandelion leaves, flowers, and roots are all edible. They have a slightly bitter flavor that can be minimized by harvesting them in the fall or spring. Cooking cuts the bitter flavor as well though the leaves make a great addition to raw salads.
Dandelion is generally considered safe in food and medicinal levels. Some people may have allergic reactions to dandelion. Anyone with an allergy to ragweed, chrysanthemum, marigold, chamomile, yarrow, or daisy should avoid dandelion and anyone pregnant, nursing, or taking prescription drugs should talk to a health care professional before adding something new to their diet.

Remolacha - Red Beet, Amaranthaceae: Beta vulgaris

The beet belongs to the same family as chard and spinach and while the leaves have a bitter taste like chard, it is rich in chlorophyll and has a higher nutritional value than its roots. Both beet root and beet greens are very powerful cleansers and builders of the blood. Betacyanin is the phytochemical in beet that gives it its rich ‘amethyst’ color that significantly reduces homocysteine levels. Beets are loaded with vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and C. The greens have a higher content of iron compared to spinach. They are also an excellent source of calcium, magnesium, copper, phosphorus, sodium and iron. Its iron content, though not high, is of the highest and finest quality that makes excellent food that is blood building. This renders it highly effective in treating many ailments caused by our toxic environment and surrounding.

Acidosis: Its alkalinity is essential and effective in combating acidosis.

Anemia: The high content of iron in beets regenerates and reactivates the red blood cells and supplies fresh oxygen to the body. The copper content in beets help make the iron more available to the body. A great blood builder.

Atherosclerosis: The juice is a powerful solvent for inorganic calcium deposits that cause the arteries to harden.

Blood pressure: All its healing and medicinal values effectively normalizes blood pressure, lowering high blood pressure or elevating low blood pressure.

Cancer: Betaine, an amino acid in beet root, has significant anti-cancer properties. Studies show that beet juice inhibits formation of cancer-causing compounds and is protective against colon or stomach cancer.

Constipation: The cellulose content helps to ease bowel movements. Drinking beet juice regularly will help relieve chronic constipation.

Dandruff: Mix a little vinegar in a small cup of beet juice. Massage it into the scalp with your fingertips and leave it on for about an hour, then rinse. Do this daily till dandruff clears up. Warning: you will smell awful during this hour!

Detoxification: The choline from the juice detoxifies not only the liver, but also the entire system of excessive alcohol abuse.

Gastric ulcer: Mix honey with your beet juice and drink two or three times a week on an empty stomach (more frequently if your body is familiar with beets juice). It helps speed up the healing process.

Gall bladder and kidney ailments: Coupled with carrot juice, the superb cleansing virtues are exceptional for curing ailments relating to these two organs.

Liver or bile: The cleansing virtues in beet juice is very healing for liver toxicity or bile ailments, like jaundice, hepatitis, food poisoning, diarrhea or vomiting. A squeeze of lime with beet juice heightens the efficacy in treating these ailments.

Varicose veins: In similar ways that it helps to keep the elasticity of arteries, regular consumption of beet juice also helps prevent varicose veins.

IF - By Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Why setting your goal is important?

Most things that you want to happen do not happen by chance. You have to make them happen. Setting goals will help you achieve your aims by giving you a purpose and a focus. The following guidelines written by Dr.Dingle will help you achieve your goals.

Make sure your goals are:

Precise : be as specific and as clear as possible

positive : you will always head in the direction of your goals. A negative goal will take you in a negative direction.

Present : when your mind think you are already there, it will do everything it can to
keep you there.

Purpose driven: find our what is really important to you and head in that direction. Make sure your goals are consistent with your values.

Personal : Make sure your goals are what you want and not other people's goals.

Short term : set goals you can achieve each days and each week build up your successes.

Long term : set long term goals that give you something to strive for. Challenging and significant : make your goals worth while. If they are too easy, your mind think “ why bother? “

measurable : this makes it easy to see how well you are doing, to measure your pace and success.

Flexible : this means that, if major things happen in your life and you are not on target, simply adjust your goals. Stuffs happens in our lives and we can't always plan for it.

Now write them down.

4 THE POWER OF VIRTUE - அறன் வலியுறுத்தல்

From virtue weal and wealth outflow:

What greater good can mankind know?

Virtue enhances joy and gain;

Forsaking it is fall and pain.

Perform food deeds as much you can

Always and everywhere, o man.

In spotless mind virtue is found

and not in show ans swelling sound.

Four ills eschew and virtue reach,

Lust, anger, envy, evil-speech.

Do good enow; defer it not

A deathless aid in death if sought.

Litter-bearer and rider say

Without a word, the fortune's way.

Like stones that block rebirth and pain

Are doing food and good again.

Weal flows only from virtue done

The rest is rue and renown gone.

Worthy act is virtue done

Vice is what we ought to shun.

சிறப்பு ஈனும் செல்வமும் ஈனும் அறத்தின் ஊங்கு

ஆக்கம் எவனோ உயிர்க்கு.

அறத்தின் ஊங்கு ஆக்கமும் இல்லை அதனை

Astonishment

I had the flu. It was a constant irritant and I was suffering lots of pain. I did not want to spread this terrible flu to others. My suffering was bad enough. So I decided to take the day off work. I sent an email to my office and went back to bed.

However, I found I could not stay in bed. I am, by nature, a workaholic. As I lay in bed, I looked around my room.
There were a few more clothes in the laundry basket, so I woke up properly, had some of the ginger tea which helps to relieve the flu symptoms and took the clothes to the launderette, which was 50 metres from my room.

No-one was there. As it was about 10am on a Friday, most of the usual customers were at work. But when I entered, I noticed a suitcase in the middle of the floor.

I loaded my clothes into the machine and turned it on. I had an hour to spend while my clothes were washing and drying, so I started to read the magazines I had brought along. But I found I could not concentrate on reading because of the suitcase in front of me.

No-one was there. All the machines were off except the one I was using. There were too many questions bubbling up in my mind about the suitcase. In the end, I decided to open the suitcase and see what was in it - but still I was scared. What was inside? Who had brought it there? Why had they placed it in the middle of the floor? If someone had forgotten it, it should have been near one of the seats or on top of one of the machines, but it was in the middle of the floor.

So it had been someone's deliberate plan to place it there in full view of anyone who entered the launderette. It might contain explosives.

There are lots of movies showing such incidents. An anonymous box is in a place where people gather. Someone tries to open it. The box explodes and the people are killed.

But, despite my fears, my mind kept insisting that I should open the suitcase and there would be money inside. Because it was my dream to adopt children who have lost their parents through the horrors war or other circumstances, those who are poor, are craving for food or are seeking to study.

I was thinking seriously about the suitcase and whether to open it or not. If it contained money, my dream would come true. If it contained explosives, my life would end with a big bang and it would hit the headlines the next day in all the newspapers in the country, perhaps even the world. I had spent 30 minutes in the launderette.

Still no-one came. I looked in the street. There was no-one there too. My mind, eaten up with curiosity, was pushing me forward to look inside the suitcase.

Christians have a saying, "Knock at the door and it will open for you. Do not think that it is locked. Sometimes it is just closed." So I prayed to God and took a coin and tossed it. Heads and I would call the police. Tails and I would open the suitcase.

THE BALD MAN AND THE FLY

A Fly settled on the head of a Bald Man and bit him.

In his eagerness to kill it, he hit himself a smart slap.

But the Fly escaped, and said to him in derision,

"You tried to kill me for just one little bite; what will you do to yourself now, for the heavy smack you have just given yourself?"

"Oh, for that blow I bear no grudge,"
he replied,

"for I never intended myself any harm; but as for you, you contemptible insect, who live by sucking human blood, I'd have borne a good deal more than that for the satisfaction of dashing the life out of you!"

3. நீத்தார் பெருமை/THE MERIT OF ASCETICS

ஒழுக்கத்து நீத்தார் பெருமை விழுப்பத்து

No merit can be held so high

As theirs who sense and self deny.

To con ascetic glory here

Is to count the dead upon the sphere.

No lustre can with theirs compare

Who know the right and virtue wear.

How great the power ascetics, sway.

The great achieve things rare to do.

Though transient, cannot be withstood.

வான்சிறப்பு/THE BLESSING OF RAIN

வான்நின்று உலகம் வழங்கி வருதலால்

The genial rain ambrosia call;
The world but lasts while rain shall fall.

The rain begets the food we eat;
And forms a food and drink concrete.

Let clouds their visits stay, and dearth
Distresses all the sea-girt earth

The ploughman's sacred toils must end.

Destruction it may sometimes pour,
But only rain can life restore.

Except the cloud its stores repay.

Hail or Fail

The people are living civil!
To military, they have to hail!
If not they have to go to jail!
Therefore their life will be fail!
Ethnics were living together like as finger and nail!
But government have not treated them equal!
They sent to government about that many mail1
But all mails had gone to pail!
Therefore they had got wail!
Their tragedy all have been veil!
Then the people were sent to the world a rail!
But they also give people ail!
Therefore they have come to Aussy by sail!
If the people would exile,
They want to go again jail!
Their life will become again fail!
